Devops Operation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Application Operations / DevOps Engineer with strong experience in enterprise application support, UNIX environments, automation, and production operations. The role involves providing L2 operational support, improving system reliability, implementing automation and CI/CD pipelines, managing incidents and escalations, and driving continuous improvements across complex IT environments. The position also requires hands-on experience with scripting, DevOps tools, monitoring, application architecture, ITIL practices, and collaboration between Development and Operations teams.

Mandatory Skill(s)

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience working in UNIX/Linux environments;
  • Strong experience in Application Operations, Production Support, and L2 technical support;
  • Hands-on experience with at least one DevOps technology such as Ansible, GitLab, Docker, or Kubernetes;
  • Strong experience in system operations, troubleshooting, incident management, and technical issue resolution;
  • Experience with scripting languages, preferably Python and/or PowerShell;
  • Good understanding of IT ecosystems, application architectures, infrastructure, and production environments;
  • Experience in automation, monitoring, alerting, and system reliability improvements;
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices;
  • Experience supporting complex operational activities including disaster recovery, migrations, major maintenance, and production changes;
  • Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions;
  • Experience managing technical escalations and ensuring timely resolution of production issues;
  • Strong understanding of ITIL practices, Agile methodologies, and continuous improvement principles;
  • Ability to maintain and improve existing operational workflows, processes, and frameworks;
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Programming & Systems Analysis, Computer Studies, or a related discipline.

Desirable Skill(s)

  • Experience working in the banking or financial services domain;
  • Experience with Control-M or other enterprise task schedulers;
  • Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace;
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, and GitLab environments;
  • Knowledge of production monitoring, alert management, application performance, and system availability;
  • Experience with security monitoring and operational controls;
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery, system migrations, and major maintenance activities;
  • Experience with on-call support and rotational shift environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary operational technical support for enterprise applications and assist functional support teams with technical troubleshooting;
  • Provide L2 production support, investigate incidents, manage technical issues, and coordinate escalations through to resolution;
  • Monitor production applications and infrastructure to ensure availability, reliability, performance, and operational stability;
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across UNIX/Linux environments, applications, infrastructure, and interconnected IT systems;
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring and major incidents and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions;
  • Support complex operational activities including disaster recovery, application migrations, major maintenance, upgrades, and production changes;
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or other scripting/automation technologies;
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment efficiency and reduce time-to-market;
  • Implement and improve monitoring, alerting, observability, and operational dashboards using appropriate enterprise tools;
  • Improve system reliability and quality through automation, proactive monitoring, security enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Maintain and improve existing operational workflows, processes, standards, and support frameworks;
  • Work closely with Development and Operations teams to bridge the gap between application development and production operations;
  • Maintain programmable code and operational scripts based on technical instructions and system specifications;
  • Manage technical escalations, production incidents, planned changes, and operational activities while ensuring appropriate communication with stakeholders;
  • Participate in rotational shifts and on-call support for critical production environments, including non-business hours and weekends when required;
  • Support incident, change, and problem management processes in accordance with ITIL and organizational standards;
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, system stability, and automation across the application landscape;
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting guides;
  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and provide technical guidance and training to team members;
  • Collaborate with globally distributed teams and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of operational services;
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving.
