Data Analyst

We are seeking a motivated Analyst to support the development and maintenance of Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) analytical models. This role focuses on leveraging data science techniques to detect suspicious activities, enhance transaction monitoring, and strengthen AML/CFT compliance frameworks.

Mandatory Skill(s)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field;
  • Has 0-1 year of experience in financial services, preferably with exposure to AML systems or compliance;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset;
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis;
  • Must have proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development;
  • Must have Solid understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques (e.g., classification, clustering, anomaly detection);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and engage stakeholders effectively;
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset.

 

Desirable Skill(s)

  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark);
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in compliance or Generative AI.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement advanced analytical models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques to identify suspicious patterns, anomalies, and emerging AML risks;
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists and Business Analysts to deliver end-to-end AFC model development, including data wrangling, exploratory data analysis (EDA), feature engineering, model selection, training, and validation;
  • Perform periodic model tuning, testing, and back-testing to ensure model effectiveness and robustness;
  • Partner with Business Analysts to understand feedback on model performance and incorporate improvements;
  • Retrain and recalibrate existing models to mitigate model drift and maintain accuracy over time;
  • Support ongoing enhancement of monitoring systems to align with evolving regulatory and business requirements;
  • Participate in model governance processes, including validation, documentation, and audit support;
  • Assess models for bias, fairness, and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards;
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and external AML/CFT regulatory requirements.
