Lead Engineer – Backend

We’re seeking a Lead Engineer who will be at the heart of driving innovation, guiding talented teams, and delivering scalable, reliable, and impactful solutions.

Mandatory Skill(s)

  • Have Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a reputable university;
  • Have 7+ years of experience in software development with hands-on expertise in agile methodologies, particularly Scrum;
  • Strong knowledge of IT architecture, particularly in microservices, REST & SOAP application services, and retail banking technology;
  • Proven track record in Java development on the J2EE platform with experience in Spring and Spring Boot;
  • Extensive experience in software architecture and designing scalable, secure solutions;
  • Deep understanding of industry best practices, agile methodologies, and the software development lifecycle;
  • Hands-on experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), DevOps pipelines, and automated testing frameworks;
  • Proficiency in system troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis for complex systems;
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop, and inspire high-performing engineering teams;
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to lead through influence and foster a culture of accountability.

Desirable Skill(s)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and present end-to-end solutions;
  • Familiarity with UML standards and architecture modeling;
  • Experience in complex, 24/7 operational environments, with a focus on scalable, resilient applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural and design discussions, focusing on creating scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions;
  • Collaborate with Chapter Leads, Principal Engineers, and Tech Leads to ensure adherence to best practices;
  • Partner with stakeholders and development teams to gather and define technical requirements;
  • Champion a high standard of source code quality, performance optimization, and scalability;
  • Assist with troubleshooting, major incident resolution, and driving long-term reliability improvements through blameless postmortems;
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing advanced methodologies;
  • Mentor team members to grow their technical and professional skills;
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless end-to-end integration and mitigate project risks;
  • Participate in technical audits, risk assessments, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC);
  • Work closely with leadership to align teams with organizational goals.
